Wedding Wednesday: How I Asked My Bridesmaids

Hi beauties!! Happy New Year! Welcoming 2019 with open arms and a brand new clean slate. I hope you guys had an amazing holiday season and are feeling refreshed after (hopefully) having a few days off with loved ones. Do you set any New Year Resolutions for yourself? I’m still writing some of mine – I will most likely share a post on some goals that I’m going to put in place for myself. Let me know what you guys set for your goals!

Starting today, I’m going to be sharing Wedding Wednesday blog posts with you and details into what we’re doing for our wedding! I’m so excited to jump into wedding planning now that all the craziness has come to an end. Alex and I are going to start touring wedding venues this month to lock down a date for the Spring of 2020. I know I have mentioned a tiny bit about why we are waiting until that year but I’ll go more into detail on that subject in next weeks #WeddingWednesday post!

Today I’m sharing how I asked my bride tribe to be my bridesmaids! I asked all of my best girlfriends this Christmas to stand by my side on my big day and it was so fun gifting them each their own box! I have been SO excited to share this with them and YOU girls since I decided what I was going to do. I’m horrible at keeping secrets to myself so this was eating my alive, lol. I kept telling Alex I wanted advice on what to include in each box and would change my mind to then change it back… poor guy.

I teamed up with Lauren of Lauren Mackenzie Decals (she has the cutest Etsy shop y’all – all of her decals are amazing!) to have these adorable Starbucks to-go cups and she sent me all of the decals for my bridesmaid boxes. You can purchase the Starbucks cups that come with her decals on them now – here is the link for them. The decals are coming to her Etsy shop this month! I will be sure to update this post when they do become available. You can use the code “INSTA10” for a 10% off discount on her shop!

I have a total of five girls in my wedding party since Alex and I wanted to keep it “small”. My Maid of Honor is my sister/bestfriend, Francesca. She has been my bestfriend since she was born and I’m so so thankful to have her in my life. My Matron of Honor is Kaitlynn, who most of you know! This girl is my bestfriend and I couldn’t imagine walking down the aisle without her. Best part is… Frankie + Kaitlynn are BFFs, too which makes things so fun when the three of us are together! I had a lot of questions on the difference between Maid and Matron of Honor these past few days. A Maid of Honor is one who is “single” and Matron of Honor is married. This made things easy for me since Kaitlynn already has her hubby!

My bridesmaids consist of my youngest sister Claire, who is my junior bridesmaid, Alex’s sister Natalie and my bestfriend from childhood, Taylor. All of these girls have been a constant in my life and I’m grateful that they all want to be a part of the process leading up the our wedding day along with standing by my side when the day arrives.

I always knew that I wanted some sort of “box” to ask my girls for probably a few years now. I love looking through the creative ones on Pinterest and seeing what everyone includes in their own. I was still deciding on what box to use when Lauren (from Lauren Mackenzie Decals) had showed me what she planned on carrying in her store Jan of 2019. I immediately purchased the boxes and told her I’d love to have the decals for them along with the personalized cups!

Unfortunately, the white boxes that I had used are completely sold out online from The Container Store. They were backordered when I went to order online but the store near me had enough in stock – they are a white gloss storage box so you might be able to find them in store! Lauren will have both the boxes along with the decals on her shop when she launches the item! It will have the name decals + the question for inside the box.

I did find a similar box with a magnetic lid over on Amazon – only difference is the size! The boxes I used are 10×10 and the ones on Amazon are a tad bit larger. The only 10×10 box I could find is a black version so I’ll link that here just in case! I did speak with Lauren and she said that she would be willing to create custom decals for you girls if you needed them sooner than when she was releasing them on her shop! Just send her a message on her Etsy account with this link about a custom order!

Since I was going with the coffee cups, I wanted to create a “theme” for my boxes for each girl. I went with my current favorite face mask (Tula is the BOMB… you can use code KAY20 for 20% off their entire site!), DW Home Peony Candle (our wedding will be filled with peonies), fuzzy socks and two donuts each from Peace, Love & Little Donuts. I was so glad that each girl loved their box so much! Made my heart so happy.

I can’t wait to share all of our wedding planning journey with you girls. I hope to have a post every Wednesday to keep you in the loop and share any tips or tricks that I learn along the way during this process for any other brides! If you girls want to see anything specific, please let me know below! Also… any of you seasoned brides or married brides… feel free to share any tips or things that you have learned from already being in this position. I’ll take all the advice I can get! xoxo
