Our Weekend in Greater Williamsburg

Thank you to Visit Williamsburg for sponsoring todays post! All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I’ve been so excited to share a little guide of what our weekend in Greater Williamsburg looked like! To make it easier for me to make sure I share everything with you, I’m going to take you through our itinerary day by day. A huge thank you to Visit Williamsburg for putting our weekend together for us. They were the absolute best and make it such a memorable weekend!

Day One:

We arrived to Greater Williamsburg on Thursday evening after driving there all afternoon! It was about 8 hours from Cleveland which wasn’t too bad. We checked right into our hotel room which was at the Williamsburg Winery, The Wedmore Place. It’s the most beautiful and quaint spot! You feel like you went back in time in the best way possible. We stayed in the Champagne Room which had a king sized bed, a fireplace, sitting area and full bathroom with a shower and tub. The decor and architecture were my favorite!

Some photos of our room are above! The first is of the hallway and it’s filled with mirrors and vintage rugs. I love the entire vibe of this place. It’s beautiful! They also have a pool on the main floor which is right off of their cafe (where we ate for breakfast the first morning of the weekend).

DAY TWO:

We started our first full day in Greater Williamsburg at our hotel for breakfast, at their Café Provencal. Their breakfast was delicious as was their coffee! We got to explore the grounds of the hotel for a bit before heading out for the day. It was a bit cloudy during this morning but still we lucked out with no rain!

Due to the clouds, we had to postpone our aerial tour to the following day but luckily that worked out! We headed to the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum to kill some time before our food tour which was fun since Alex hasn’t been to one. Definitely recommend checking it out!

After our museum visit, we had the Taste of Williamsburg Food Tour…. it was amazing! It’s about 7-8 establishments throughout downtown Williamsburg and they all blew us away. Some of our favorites were the Brussel Sprouts from Hounds Tale, the Hot Holly Sandwich from College Delly and the Mac & Cheese from The Blue Talon Bistro!

Alex and I are huge fans of The Spice + Tea Exchange of Williamsburg! We go every time we stay on AMI and I had no idea there was a store front in Downtown Williamsburg. It was so fun seeing everything they carried at this store. We stocked up on a ton of our favorite spices and dips that we love.

After our full afternoon of downtown Williamsburg and the Food Tour… we got to relax at the Williamsburg Salt Spa. It was a 45-minute session and I’ve never experienced anything like it! Williamsburg Salt Spa has imported over 15 tons of therapeutic salt from Poland and the Himalayas to create a unique micro-climate rich in minerals, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, bromine, and iodine. The therapeutic session will improve your health as you relax in comfortable recliners, listen to the soothing sounds of music, and breathe air saturated with beneficial minerals. It felt so good to sit and relax after the long day that we had!

Our first dinner in Williamsuburg was at the Le Yaca French Restaurant. It was so close to downtown Williamsburg and was delicious! I had the rack of lamb and loved it. We tried the dessert sampler and did not regret… we didn’t want it to end!

After our dinner at Le Yaca, we got to go Axe Throwing at Axe Republic! This has been on Alex and I’s list for a while to do but we hadn’t had the chance to. It was seriously so much fun – I loved it!! I took a bunch of videos so I shared them on my Instagram Stories!

DAY THREE:

We started our third day in Greater Williamsburg at Aroma’s Coffee Shop and grabbed some coffee and quick breakfast! Their pumpkin roasted coffee is seriously so yummy. I wanted it everyday after that. Alex tried their French Toast + loved that! They have really great latte’s, too.

After breakfast, we got to head to the Williamsburg Flight Center for our aerial tour of the town! We were so excited for this! The weather seemed to be getting better today so it was go-time!

Alex and I have never been in a smaller plane so this was definitely a first-time experience for both of us. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous at first but that quickly went away! It was so cool seeing downtown Williamsburg from above. Such a stunning town!

After our aerial tour, we headed straight to lunch! We grabbed some tacos and beers (Alex grabbed the beers of course) at Electric Circus Taco Bar at Precarious Beer Hall which was such a fun spot. They have a whole arcade full of games and a full bar. You can order your tacos at the counter and then grab them when they’re ready. We ordered SO much food (you can see on IG stories) but everything was delicious!

After lunch, we headed to Colonial Williamsburg which I was SO excited about. We had a bike rental from Bike the Burg so we drove to grab the bikes and explore the town. Colonial Williamsburg is full of history and so much beauty. Honestly, this was one of my favorite parts of the trip! We got to meet some cows and horses, Alex made friends with the little cow of course. Riding around was so much fun and it turned out to be a gorgeous day.

We got to walk around the Governor’s Garden which is behind his Palace. It was seriously the most beautiful garden! I took some photos of Alex and I back there (see above) and love having these memories.

We stopped by The Linda Matney Fine Art Gallery briefly after biking around Colonial Williamsburg and it was full of gorgeous artwork! I took a few photos but didn’t want to take too many of the art. They have an Instagram for those interested! You can find them, here.

For our last dinner in Greater Williamsburg, we decided to try out Fat Canary downtown. This was our favorite meal of the entire trip… such an experience! The staff was SO welcoming as was the chef who surprised us with an appetizer. We loved every minute of being there and didn’t want our meal to end. A huge thank you to their staff for making our time there so amazing!

On our last morning, we decided to grab breakfast at The Blue Talon Bistro which we tried during our food tour the first day. We loved it so much, we wanted to go back and were so glad that we did! I had the eggs and potato and Alex tried the french toast. Everything was amazing, we’d 100% recommend!

We walked around downtown Williamsburg for a couple hours before heading back home. It was such a memorable weekend and so special to Alex and I since we didn’t get to go on a honeymoon this year. We’re trying to make as many memories as possible with baby boy joins us in 2021! Hoping to squeeze in one more road trip before then. 🙂 Our next trip, we’re hoping we can stop at Blackbird Bakery, grab a carriage ride in Colonial Williamsburg and check out Brass Cannon Brewery a little more!
